Huangmei has a rich reserve of underground minerals , 15 sorts are proven to have exploitation value , of which , limonite and siderite have a reserve of 58 million tons , the tenor is around 45 % , being concentrated ; quartz is of 100 million tons ; gypsum mine is 270 million tons ; barite is 500 , 000 tons and silex of 10 million tons ; porcelain clay , limestone , shale and granite are extensively distributed and of large reserve 黃梅地下礦產豐富,已探明有開采價值的礦產資源15種,其中褐鐵礦、菱鐵礦儲量5800萬噸,品位45 %左右,分布集中;石英礦1億噸;石膏礦2 . 7億噸;重晶石50萬噸;硅石1000萬噸;瓷土、石灰石、頁巖石、花崗巖分布廣、儲量大。

The metallic mineral has very few content ( 1 % - 2 % ) , the mineral of ore is mainly of pyrite , chalcopyrite , limonite , aurum and electrum etc . the gangue mineral is composed of chalcedony , micro grained quartz , calsite , sericite , adularia , aragonite , chlorite , laumontite , pyrophyuite , kaolinite and so on , which show the typical mineral assemblage of epithermal 礦石為典型少硫化物型,金屬礦物含量極少( 1 - 2 ) ,主要有黃鐵礦、黃銅礦、褐鐵礦和自然金、銀金礦等。主要脈石礦物有玉髓、微粒石英以及方解石、絹云母、冰長石、文石、綠泥石、濁沸石、葉臘石、高嶺石等,屬典型低溫礦物組合。

By infrared spectrum study , the limonite ( feooh nh2o ) can be considered the main colorating mineral in the yellow and red jadeite , and the hematite is another colorating mineral in the red jadeite . the difference of color tone is due to the n value in the molecular formula feooh nh2o and the content of crystal water and adsorbent water . the iron ion came from the effloresced and eroded rocks , and formed fe ( oh ) 3 colloid reacted with the surface water 周圍礦床的風化蝕變為表生水提供了鐵質,形成弱酸性的含fe ( oh ) _ 3膠體的水溶液,表生水流經翡翠礦石時, fe ( oh ) _ 3膠體附著在巖石的表面,經過脫水結晶和吸附,形成褐鐵礦膠體,褐鐵礦膠體沿裂隙或松散的礦物顆粒進入翡翠巖石中,逐漸累積沉淀,形成次生色層。

The colloid adhered the surface of jadeite , formed limonite after dehydrating and crystal . then the secondary color came into being owing to the limonite subsidence . the iron ion which are needed for the secondary color mainly came from outside 對于硬玉所占比例比較大的翡翠,翡翠次生色形成所需的鐵主要來自于外界,對于含有富鐵礦物的硬玉,既有自身析出的鐵,又有來自外界的鐵。
